Technology Upgrades Underway

Pacific Edge Limited has recently invested in the latest top of the range measurement equipment to improve the accuracy and precision of its diagnostic test.

The droplet digital polymerase chain reaction (ddPCR) technology has many advantages over the measurement system we use now. For example it permits absolute quantification of each gene concentration and it is a simpler technology making it easier and more robust to set up in our subsidiaries and franchisees laboratories.

The technology is undergoing full evaluation in the laboratory in Dunedin just now, and while this work up will be valuable now to improve the existing test, the main advantage will be in the future as we seek to migrate the whole test to this new format. This will require intensive validation and considerable work up to obtain the necessary regulatory approvals. This development is consistent with the Pacific Edge Limited policy of constant improvement of the diagnostic test.
